NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Designer & CEO Tory Burch will host a breakfast discussion aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs by providing information about how to access affordable loans, build sustainable businesses and create jobs. This event will take place on Friday, June 20 at Liberty House in Jersey City.

It’s fairly easy to get caught up in the fantasy of the idea of your business–before the reality of the challenge hits you.

As the leader of your business, you establish the voice of the company. You are often the face of the business, and you drive the energy that will represent the gestalt of the business.

So it’s no surprise that you will be up days and nights and days planning the important strategic issues about the company–the business model, the launch strategy, the funding, the board, the people, the culture.  And somehow, you have to be building your business, and hopefully generating revenue, at the same time.

Gwyneth, I want you to know I feel your pain, girlfriend. I am trying to appreciate how it must be hard being a gorgeous Oscar-winning movie star, with limitless funds, on a movie set where someone feeds you and gives you a trailer to take a nap and probably drives you and your kids places with out messing up your designer clothes or your perfect hair. But in all seriousness, I don’t begrudge your general fabulousness — even though there is very little about your life that I can relate to as a working mom (except for the show-stopping outfits that I wear to work). You, like all of us, are just trying to do the best you can with the specifics of your own life.
